Coco Lee, the first Chinese to sing at the Oscars will add a new feat to her portfolio. She will also soon become the first Chinese singer to hold a concert at the Los Angeles Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The concert hall, built at a cost of over US$50million, is a famous for the best artistic performances in the United States. It was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry who spent 16 years designing and building it. Since the hall opened in 2003, the hall has only been used for classical music performances.
At the concert on July 17, Lee, 34, will shed her trademark sex appeal and hot dance moves, and meet her audience glamourously to sing only love ballads to the live accompaniment of a “Big Band” formed by famous American musicians.
Other than her classic hits like “Hint”, Lee will also sing cover versions of English and Mandarin classics such as “I do” and “Tian Mi Mi”, as well as several new singles from the all-new Mandarin album to be released in August.
In the synopsis of the concert titled Global Pop At The Music Center, Lee was described as “one of the most highly acclaimed Asian singers in the world and considered to be a musical icon in Asia”.
Lee hoped that more Chinese singers can be invited to the Walt Disney Concert Hall and that Chinese culture can be spread through music.
