Supermodel and TV hostess Lin Chi-ling(林志玲) may have taken the crown from actress Stephanie Hsiao(蕭薔) as the most beautiful woman in Taiwan.
Lin’s role in director John Woo’s new film “Red Cliff” shows off her considerable charms. Lin, Woo, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung and Chinese mainland actor Hu Jun are in town to promote the epic drama, set in the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280 AD).
Lin stars opposite Leung, playing Xiao Qiao(小喬,周瑜老婆), wife of the famed strategist Zhou Yu. Internet forums have been abuzz with critics claiming Lin was too old for the character. However, Woo said he thought her performance was graceful and embodied the ideals of Eastern beauty.
Lin said she was thrilled at her big-screen debut. Before shooting started, she said: “If the filming goes well, I will continue acting. I’m getting to love it.”
Her beauty secret? “I drink lots of water, and I stay away from air-conditioning. I think if you can sweat a bit, it helps you to detoxify.”
