BEIJING, June 2 (Xinhuanet) — “Transformers” was the winner of best movie, the top award, at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, and co-star Megan Fox and director Michael Bay accepted the award on Sunday night.

Bay said the film’s sequel would begin shooting the following day and take place two years after the first film.

The ceremony was held at the Gibson Amphitheatre, only a couple of hundred yards uphill from the fire that ripped through the Universal Studios lot for more than 12 hours before the final flames were extinguished.

Online voters chose winners for categories such as best kiss, best villain and best summer movie so far. Johnny Depp won two buckets for best comedic performance and best villain.

Best Fight: Sean Faris and Cam Gigandet in “Never Back Down”

Best Villain: Johnny Depp in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”

Best Kiss: Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman in “Step Up 2 The Streets”

Best Summer Movie So Far: “Iron Man”
