Question:I was thinknig of getting it later on after im done uni because i dont think i have the money for it now($300 per eye)but is it safe?i heard its pretty successful compared to other surgeries. how does it work and have any of you ever done it?anybody ever heard of ppl going blind?as you can tell, im a very catious person
Answer:Let’s put it this way. My boyfriend’s cousin is a laser eye doctor and even he has not had it done. He also does not recommend it to any of his family members. Doesn’t that tell you something?
The technology is still relatively new (even if it has been around for a decade or so), there is still very little known about side effects, particularly long term ones. Some reports say that some people cannot see at night/in the dark (my parents have friends who have this problems) while others say it worked perfectly. Laser eye surgery is not perfected 100% and so it will have some risks associated with it.
Look up some information online. You are in university now, right? You can access your school’s library resources to find studies and articles about laser eye surgeries. That should give you enough information to make your choice.
For me, personally, I originally wanted to do laser eye surgery because I was tired of wearing glasses. But after doing some research and talking to people who have done it before, I decided not to.
Do a little bit of research and see what you can find.
