A resident surnamed Zhou of Dazhou, Sichuan province, has set a local medical record.
The 39-year-old man underwent an operation recently to remove gallstones - a total of 3,956.
“It was a record, I have never removed so many gallstones,” a doctor said.
The doctor said the gallstones were the result of Zhou’s bad eating habits.
