A man has defied colon cancer by traveling around China on a bicycle and has surprised doctors by the improvement in his health.

Bater, 60, a former judge at a court in Wuhai, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was diagnosed with colon cancer three years ago.

Following an operation, Bater decided to travel around the country on a tandem bicycle with his wife.

Bater has traveled through the northern and eastern parts of the country in the past two years. Doctors said there has been a dramatic improvement in his health and there are no new signs of cancer.
