A teenager who wanted to change his name because he was disappointed with his father was reconciled with his family on Monday, in Zibo, Shandong Province.
The boy went to police and told them his father had promised him a pair of sports shoes if he passed his exams. He did so, but his father did not buy the trainers. Therefore, he said, he was requesting a change of name.
Police in charge of household residency eventually negotiated a settlement between the two and the boy kept his name.
