In a fight over the ownership of a calf, two cattle-raisers in Wuning, Jiangxi Province, decided to spend 6,000 yuan ($790) - six times the value of the calf - on a DNA test in Beijing.
Yuan Zhiyuan and Liu Hehui both claimed to be the rightful owner of a calf left unguarded on a hill. Unable to reach an agreement, the two turned to local police to settle the dispute. Yuan said he purchased the calf and its mother cow from a market, so police suggested giving the calf a DNA test in Beijing.
Although transport to and from Beijing and the test itself are costly, the two farmers thought it would be worth it as long as the dispute could be settled.(China Daily)(Information Daily)
