The first batch of ducks fattened on a regular diet of fresh milk at a Chongqing farm will be hitting the market soon.
Duck farmer Wang Mingren got the idea of using milk from an advertisement - if milk was good for humans, it would be good for ducks too, he thought.
Wang picked up tricks of the duck-raising trade two years ago in two provinces in the north and south. An aging vet in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region found the milk diet interesting and suggested augmenting it with traditional Chinese medicine. Wang took up the advice.
Experts say it is impossible to tell if Wang’s unique diet for his ducks are more nutritious than common feed.
