A 5-year-old mare in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, has developed a taste for meat and soup.
Although horses are usually herbivores this horse appears to be addicted to flesh, eating as much as 1.5 kg of cooked meat or fat, with soup, every day, its owner, surnamed Yang, said.
“I found the horse’s taste for meat by chance one day two years ago when I fed it with leftovers that included meat,” Yang said.
However, Liu Fei, a horse expert, said since horses were herbivores they are unable to digest meat normally. He said if the owner keeps feeding the horse with meat, it may suffer from indigestion - some day.
