Hou Rongfeng, from Shenyang, Liaoning province, has been afflicted with a debilitating illness since birth.
For 28 years, Hou has been unable to lie down because of agonizing pain and sweating.
Hou sleeps sitting up. But even that is a problem in his waking hours - Hou had to quit school at the age of 10 because he couldn not bear the pain of sitting for long hours.
He tried to train as a car mechanic, but again he had to give it away because he couldn not bend from the waist. Hou has seen many doctors about his condition but has never been diagnosed. He is now cared for by social workers in his community.
