A 67-year-old farmer has constructed a miniature submarine in Caidian, Hubei Province.
Li Yuming’s craft, called Xiagang 5, successfully submerged for 10 seconds in a local lake, on Tuesday.
Li said he had spent a year studying how to make the submarine, which can carry between four and six people.
Li said the submarine would be able to operate under water for more than 20 minutes, after he improves its engine and design.
