A cab driver was so mortified by a young woman who put out her leg to hail a taxi rather than use her hand, in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, on Wednesday, the woman’s actions have started a debate on manners.
The taxi driver, surnamed Chen, stopped momentarily, then, feeling ashamed,drove off.
“I cannot give a ride to someone who insults our job in such a way,” he said.
Local media conducted a brief poll of other cab drivers and found there was a trend toward hailing cabs with feet rather than using the hands.
“Some did so because it was cold and they did not want to get colder by taking their hands out of their pockets”, one media report said. Even so, the media appealed to the public to show cabbies a little more respect.
