12 Miss Hong Kong hopeful was filming in the US. They were doing a show on the 29th in a ship. The theme of the evening was about pirate . There were about 100 guests. This function aimed to promote HK tourism. Cheung She Ya got voted as ‘Best pirate costume award”. Yew Ting Jee was voted the “ Most beautiful pirate- from the captain”.
The hopeful were taking turn to introduce HK. Some contestants studied overseas, such as Cheung She Ya, some has Master degree, such as Cheung Sin Mun . Leung Ya Lim spoke fluent English . She used the shinny reflector to describe HK people, who walk fast, eat fast and work fast. She got a big round of applaud.
On the other hand, Ko Hai Ning was a bit nervous, when she was presenting ‘The lady’s market”. People noticed that her feet were shaking., and her English was not very good either.
However, Tao Ting Jee talked about Chinese new year sweet box ( Chuen Hup) , mid-autumn festival and moon cakes. She was well prepared, and had lots of cheers .
The winner Cheung She Ya said she was very nervous beforehand. She had to take a deep breath before walking on stage. Her father told her to do that. She said there maybe foreigners watching the show who are interested in Chinese culture, that’s why she got the award. When asked how come she knows how to present (pose) herself, is she not worried that the other contestants get jealous. She answered as she had training in modelling, and she had 8 years experience, she had helped some others about posing. She is not worried about jealousy . Go Hai Ning knew her English is not very good, she had altered her speech a bit, because of that, she couldn’t deliver as planned.
