‘The act of rape is barbaric. that it’s still going on is appalling,’ Angie Harmon says in the newest issue of Us Weekly, on stands tomorrow.
Eradicating it may be impossible, but the actress hopes to help those affected by devoting her time as a board member of the Rape Treatment Center at California’s Santa Monica’UCLA Medical Center, which provides emergency services for victims.

‘It’s still so prevalent, and I have two daughters,’ says the star of ABC’s Women’s Murder Club, 35 (who is married to former NFL star Jason Sehorn, 37, and is mom to Finley, 4, and Avery, 2).
Tonight’s episode of WMC deals with the subject matter when a girl was raped at a college frat party.
‘It shows the devastation,’ says Harmon, who aims to keep the issue at the forefront through her fundraising efforts and events with the organization. ‘To have the center go nationwide would be my ultimate dream.
‘Awareness is part of the battle,’ adds Harmon, who tells Us she often tears up at RTC events.
