Earlier, 金牌 was unsatisfied with the results from the 新城電台 award show. They decided to boycott award shows because the awards were given unequally. Yesterday, TVB’s 《十大勁歌金曲頒獎禮》 (JSG Award) held the worship ceremony. 金牌 Big brother Leo Ku lead the team and left right after the ceremony. They didn’t even stay for the group pictures. This lead people to believe they are protesting. It may be due to TVB won’t be giving them a lot of top awards.
This year, Leo lost to Hacken Lee in the two earlier award shows. He is also losing a lot of ground to nemesis Eason Chan. Also Hins Cheung is in front of him with 3 awards. This is a huge blow to him. Even though Leo is in the top five nominations for ‘Most Popular Male Singer’, the hot favourite is Eason to win the award. Also, Hacken is giving Leo a lot of pressure. Leo may have to settle for the bronze award and a song award. Maybe the rumours have made Leo unhappy because he suddenly tugged Stephy Tang and Justin Lo to leave right after the worship ceremony. They didn’t even stay to take the group picture. Other people believed that they were unsatisfied with getting a few of the less prestigious awards. So they left in protest and 小肥 stayed for the group picture.
Ms Chan, spokesperson from the label, clarified that Leo didn’t know that there would be group pictures and that is why he left. Stephy left because she needed to start filming a movie. Justin left because he had to record songs. 小肥 stayed because of the rehearsal.
Before Leo Ku left, he accepted an interview. He was asked if new singer Raymond Lam was qualified to be in the nomination for the ‘Male Singer’ awards. He admitted: ‘Excellent! He is qualified if he made it into the nomination. Of course, he has people’s approval for it.’ (Do you feel threaten by Hins’) Leo said: ‘It is a good thing for the Hong Kong music industry to have more diligent singers. Hong Kong can’t have only one or two singers.’ (Do you think Hins has the better results’) Leo said: ‘Everyone is about the same. Hacken, Eason and mine results are pretty much the same. But Hins did improve a lot.’ (It seems you slowed down this year.) Leo said: ‘I will view it in another perspective. I will do my job and go to award shows. The rest will be taken care of by my label.’
Also, Eason was in Taiwan and couldn’t return to Hong Kong in time. Twins would be staying in mainland China and won’t be attending the award show. Of the 5 top nominations, only 4 male singers were at the worship ceremony. Leo divulged that Hins asked him: ‘I don’t know what they would be writing about tomorrow.’ Leo immediately consoled him and said: ‘Don’t worry, I understand.’ [by mv_288]
