The biography of Chinese crosstalk master, the late Ma Ji, was released in Beijing on Sunday.
Named “Yi Sheng Shou Hou”, or literally translated as “Waiting All My Life”, the book records the crosstalk artist’s entire life, in addition to his reminiscences over passed, old days and to the development of crosstalk.
Ma Ji’s son, TV host Ma Dong, and several of his students, Xiao Lin, Liu Wei, as well as Wang Qianxiang and Li Zengrui, attended the promotion ceremony for the book.
Ma is regarded as an artist who combined traditional and modern crosstalk art forms. His work reflected every-day life in China. He was good at satirizing social problems and praising heroes. He created more than 100 crosstalk dialogues, in addition to publishing a number of books on the subject.
Having suffered from heart problems, Ma Ji passed away last December, at the age of 72. [by stephanieshieh]
