(Xinhuanet) — U.S. actor Dennis Farina was charged for carrying a loaded gun — a .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol when he tried to get through Los Angeles International Airport security on May 11.

The city attorney’s office on Wednesday charged the actor with three misdemeanor, including carrying a weapon into a secured area, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a loaded weapon in a public place.

Farina, 65, is due to be arraigned on Thursday, but he does not have to appear in court.

Farina was arrested last month after airport screeners found the gun as he prepared to board a plane.

Farina publicly apologized and told police he brought the gun with him on a drive from Arizona to Los Angeles and forgot he had it.

County prosecutors declined to charge Farina with felonies and referred the case to city prosecutors.
