The 26 year-old Edison Chen Koon Hei recently invested $10 million (HKD) to open his own multi-media company, Clot Media Division. Edison is the CEO of the company and his partners include DJ Tommy, Chen Huanjen, and Lin Chienyueh. A press conference was held at the Four Seasons Hotel yesterday announcing the founding of the company.
Leaving behind his normal hip-hop look, Edison wore a black business suit yesterday. Edison’s godfather, Anthony Wong Chau Sung and director Andrew Lau Wai Keung (of “Infernal Affairs” fame”) were also present at the press conference.
Clot Media Division will produce movies, commercials, and music albums. CEO Edison said, “Two years ago, I thought about creating my own company, but I was waiting for my EEG contract to expire.”
“I didn’t want to sign with another music company after EEG. I put in a lot of effort and time in a music album, however I only reap X percentage in royalties!” Edison indicated that when he signs new artists, the company’s profit-share cut will be less extreme than most music companies.
Did EEG take a steep profit-share cut when Edison was under their management Edison said vaguely, “It could have been better!”
Clot Media Division has already signed 2 new artists, who are in training. But Edison insisted that he will not be signing his girlfriend, “Of course I won’t sign her! I’ll be shocked if she becomes an artist!”
Edison hopes to retire at age 32. If there are good scripts, he will continue to film. However he will never retire his microphone [stop singing]! [by bigmonster321]
