In the past there was Adam Cheng & Liza Wang, Chow Yun Fat & Dodo Cheng, Damian Lau & Michelle Yim and now in the current day we have Bosco Wong & Myolie Wu, Moses Chan & Bernice Liu, Kevin Cheng & Niki Chow, Stephen Wong & Mandy Cho, Raymond Lam & Linda Chung etc.
Even though in War of the Genders, Miss Mo (Dodo Cheng) & Yu Le Tian (Dayo Wong) managed to end up together, however, they don’t have the characteristics suited for onscreen lovers - onscreen lovers should consist of a handsome guy & a pretty girl pairing & it should give audiences a very happy & comfortable feeling while watching those images; their only responsibility would be to act all affectionate & lovey dovey. Once the audience’s own love quota has already been exhausted, luckily there are still onscreen couples to “replace” us. On stage, they love their partners till death. Below the stage, we are touched by their silliness & naiveness.
The earlier generations of onscreen lovers may not have had their characters transformed from reel to real life; on the other hand, the new generations of onscreen lovers would in the process of acting, slowly transform into real lovers. The more people can’t completely understand/ see through their relationship, the more people would be highly fascinated by them. Even though onscreen lovers would not be willing to admit their relationship, however, by observing them down to the tiniest details, a little of their flaws would show. Love would bring them fame & glory, making people feel that they are especially matching. If their outer appearances match, people would in turn also think that they are in love. When advancing into an underground relationship, they would sometimes feel shy; sometimes when faced with the television station’s orders, they would seemingly comply on the surface but oppose on the inside, letting us see the real troubles being faced by Romeo & Juliet in the classic story.
The newest couple is Joyce Tang & Derek Kok. One dated for 9 years but was ditched just like that, the other worked hard for many years & was finally seeing some improvement in his career. The part which makes them match is that they were both once people who had nowhere to go but who were both brought together from two ends of the earth, making us happy to see that there is such a thing as ‘people will be rewarded for their hard work’ on earth.
It is still too early for those young onscreen couples to discuss about marriage; as long as it is decided that they are to live together in ‘one dynasty’, it would have already satisfied our desires (Sure not for me when it comes to KN! How could even 3 times be enough? ). As for onscreen couples who have acted in 3 prefixes, we await the day whereby they will finally get married & have their own house. What audiences most want to see is a finale with a happy ending, hence they don’t mind continuously awaiting for it to finally arrive.
Perhaps, this is only one’s wishful thinking but it is pardonable especially under such circumstances - life is tough & short, we may not be able to grab hold of our own happiness but we would wish to see others being so happy, taking advantage to verificate that love is not an old fable.
P.S. (This article is subtly hinting towards KN! Did you guys spot those parts? LOL. Quite love the way it was written although I didn’t like the part whereby they kinda made fun of other artistes[by hip in KN forum endearment.18.forumer.com]
