Gong Li, who is currently residing in London for the film ‘Hannibal Rising,’ joined us in an interview from London.
Gong Li’s initial dream in Hollywood was to be a singer rather than an actress. “I wanted to attend a singing school in Beijing, but I did not pass. But now I am glad that I did not.”
Her father, being a college professor, wanted her to follow in his footsteps, but she decided to attend acting school. They first opposed her becoming an actress saying, “It is hard to become an actress,” but they seem to have accepted the fact as she claimed that she is a teacher of acting at the school.
Appearing in ‘Hannibal Rising,’ Gong Li will be riding a motorcycle and performing stunts. “It is hard as I have motorcycle lessons three times a week, but as someone else does the motorcycle scenes for me in the movie, it is less burdensome.”
Gong Li’s next film will be ‘The Yellow M’ co-starring James Caviezel who acted as Jesus in ‘The Passion of the Christ.’[by francesca]
