The contenders from the popular “My Hero” reality TV show will star in a new TV series called “The Frog Prince,” which started shooting on Sunday in Shanghai.
Five of the show’s popular heartthrobs, Zhong Kai, Wu Diwen, Zhang Xiaochen, Song Xiaobo and Wu Jianfei, will star in the series.
A big fan of “My Hero” wrote the plot for the new series and modeled each of her characters after the boys.
The first season is slated to air on Shanghai Dragon TV in April.
Critics are expecting the boys to produce a series that will compare favorable with the Taiwan love story “Meteor Garden,” which was a smash hit throughout southeast Asia in 2001.
Along with the “Super Girl” singing competition, “My Hero” was a hit on Chinese TV last year as it pitted a group of handsome men against each other for the prize. [by stephanieshieh]
