Life can be so contradictory. In Channel 5’s brand new drama Parental Guidance, James Seto (played by Adrian Pang) and Ling (played by celebrated Hong Kong actress Jessica Hsuan) are two self-involved individuals who would not even be friends in ordinary circumstances, much less co-parents. Yet, Adrian and Jessica share so much screen chemistry they burn up our television screens.

“He’s a bubbly person, and I’m a bubbly person too…but especially because we’re both from England, we have things in common to talk about. The sense of humour is kind of similar,” says Jessica about Adrian at the Parental Guidance press conference held at Conrad Centennial Hotel yesterday afternoon.

Jessica studied in England from the time she was 13 until she was 21, while Adrian spent eight years there as an actor.

The beautiful and smiley Jessica also reveals that she is looking for a man with all-rounded qualities that Adrian possesses - smart, has a good sense of humour, can have a lot of fun with the kids and be serious with them as well, a good dad, a family man, and a hard worker. It sounds like Jessica’s father has really etched a deep impression on her because she is “always proud of him” for being good at working, having self-discipline, and always carrying out what he promises.

When it comes to choosing an ideal mate though, Jessica adds that he should be “preferably taller than me, not too skinny, not too fat, and must have a good heart”. Hopefully, the guy will also believe in the marriage vow ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ because, as Jessica says, she “still has the old-fashioned mind in a way”.

“I still believe that if you choose to marry somebody, you’ll stand by each other,” she said. Guys who answer ‘Yes’ to all of the above, you know what’s expected of you now.

Jessica turns little Jessica into a monster

Jessica definitely enjoys being around children. The first thing she does when she walks in for the press conference of Parental Guidance is to give the three exceptional child actors, Fang Rong, Kyle and (little) Jessica big hugs and kisses. The kids and big kids, including 72-year-old Kenneth Tsang, who plays Adrian’s botox-injecting, wig-wearing father with a fondness for younger ladies, seem so happy to be reunited that it took quite some time for the host to get all the actors and actresses seated.

“(Little) Jessica said ‘I’m going to miss you so much’,” Jessica tells us in her lingering British accent. “And I told her ‘No, you’re going to forget me. When you see me in January, you’re not going to be like now.’ She said ‘No’… and then for about half a month, she just had that on her mind. Before I left, she said ‘I promise you that when you come back in January, I’m going to give you a big, big hug.’, and she did.”

It looks like Jessica really has a special place in little Jessica’s heart. We wonder what Jessica did to get that spot.

“I’ve turned little Jessica into a little monster!” said Jessica with a hearty laugh, referring to little Jessica’s cute imitation of horror doll Chucky’s evil laughter.

“I told little Jessica about it, and I think she’s seen it as well, so she put it into her character. Whenever her character laughs, she would go ‘Kekeke’!” explained Jessica before giving us a totally convincing yet funny demonstration of the infamous “Kekeke” sound Chucky makes when he laughs.[by meteorgalMM]
