Kim Ah Joong, who shot to fame after her lead role in the Korean film ‘200 Pound Beauty’, said she was initially shocked due to the enthusiasm of the Vietnamese fans. However, the event was too short for most, including Koreans living and studying in Vietnam as it lasted for only 15 minutes, leaving no time for them to chat with their idol.

Kim Ah Joong joins the Dynamic Korea Film Festival hosted from May 30 to June 3 by the Republic of Korean embassy in Hanoi and Seoul Shinmun newspaper. Kim said she hoped Vietnamese people enjoy her role in the ‘200 Pound Beauty’, which begins screening in Vietnam on June 1.

The show attracted 6.3 million viewers when it was screened in the Republic of Korea by late last year and ranked third in ticket sales after ‘The Host’ and ‘The King and the Clown’, making Kim Ah Joong one of the most popular actresses in her homeland.

This year, Kim was honored with the 30th Gold Filming New Rising Woman Actress and the 4th Best Filming Woman Actress Prize in her homeland.

Kim, who has recently been voted ‘The most attractive woman in Korea’ by Korea’s Shape magazine, is currently also a very bright star of Korean music scene as well as in other countries in Asia.

In the soundtrack to ‘200 Pound Beauty’, Maria, which Kim Ah Joong remade from an American song topped Korea’s music charts for months.

Also joining the Korea Film Festival in Vietnam is Lee Jung Hyun, a famous Korean pop star well known for her catchy tunes. Her songs have been added to the Korean versions of Dance Dance Revolution and are frequently covered.

Talking with local reporters in Hanoi on Wednesday, the singer revealed she was very fond of works by well-known Vietnamese painter Bui Xuan Phai (1920 - 1988), who was famous for his vivid paintings of the Hanoi Old Quarter.

‘I knew about Bui Xuan Phai after visiting an exhibition in my homeland. I bought a painting to hang in my house and I want to see more of his works in Vietnam,’ she said.

To join the Korean Film Festival, Lee Jung Hyun postponed a scheduled trip to China but said she had no regrets as she was looking forward to the visit for a long time.

‘I love Vietnam but failed to arrange time to visit your country earlier. This is a wonderful chance and I had to take while I could,’ she told the local reporters. [by sweet_kisses]
