Kingone Wang ChuanYi is a former member of the (now disbanded) Taiwanese idol boyband Comic Boys. After disbanding, his solo career took off; to date, he has participated in a number of popular Taiwanese dramas: Why Why Love, Devil Beside You, MARS, Starry Night, Silence, Ma La Gao Xiao Sheng, etc. And it was precisely his outstanding performances in these dramas that brought him the popularity he enjoys today. Over the past two new years, he has become a “formidable” male lead for Taiwanese idol dramas… and has received the love of fans from both sides of the Straits and all three of the Chinese lands.*
Translator’s Note: This is just the reporter’s way of saying that he is popular on both sides of the (Taiwan) Straits… and in the Mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Last May, Kingone took advantage of a break in his filming schedule to attend Singapore’s prestigious Music Forest (海蝶音樂森林) for musical training. Many entertainers have, in fact, fine-tuned their vocal talents or discovered their musical composition ability and creativity while there. Kingone started from the basics and build up a musical foundation: he began by learning to read music, then began to study musicology and how to play the guitar. In the end, he advanced to the point where, strumming his guitar, he could compose his own songs; he obviously learned a lot in his time there. Upon his return to Taiwan, he took the advice and guidance of his music teachers with him into the recording studio. His remarkable progress pleasantly surprised the producer, and it allowed Kingone to find and develop his own singing style. As a result, in 2007, his company released his first solo EP, 換換愛 [Love, Kingone]. It met with a widespread favorable response from the general public and a unanimous level of approval from music industry insiders. His first solo full-length album is already in the planning stage. It is impossible not to attribute his success and transformation, at least in part, to the special training and cultivation he received at the Music Forest– it was there that he was able to establish a firm foundation in both song and dance.

Kingone has been very busy recently; however, he learned that his alma mater, the Singaporean Music Forest, would be formally venturing into Beijing and opening up an institute, the Beijing Music Forest, specifically for teaching and cultivating the performing arts. They have invited a number of famous producers and songwriters, including Lin QiuLi, Hsu HuanLiang, Wu JianFeng, XiaoChong, etc., as well as the creative producing minds behind several “international level” superstars, Xue Gao (of Taiwan) and XueLing (of Singapore). Upon hearing this news, Kingone was extremely excited, and, accompanied by an assistant, he specially paid a return visit to his old school. He toured the Beijing Music Forest and, one after the other, visited the beautiful new dance classroom, the vocal classroom, the piano classroom, and the “VIP” classroom. After seeing everything, Kingone could not stop exclaiming over the lovely new renovations and the luxurious high-tech equipment and facilities. From time to time, he would mutter, “It’s so beautiful! It’s really too beautiful!” He hoped that he would have an opportunity in the future to return to the Music Forest and pursue more advanced studies.[by tammiest]
