The Shanghai Oriental Arts Center announced on Wednesday it will host performances by the London Symphony Orchestra and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra this year.

Tickets for the London Symphony Orchestra concerts on April 22 and 23 went on sale on Wednesday and are priced from 200 yuan (US$25) to 2,200 yuan. The center organized a program for classical music lovers to vote on the 10 best orchestras from around the world early last year and promised to invite one or two orchestras from the top 10 list to perform in Shanghai. Conductor Daniel Harding, violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and Chinese pianist Lang Lang will take part in the Shanghai debut of the London Symphony Orchestra. [by stephanieshieh]
