Sammi made her first appearance in Vancouver in a long time on Monday night at CCTV’s ‘The Same Song’ concert, along with other performing guests Miriam Yeung, Eric Tsang and Angela Zhang, amongst others.
Earlier reports had suggested that Sammi and Miriam were at war with each other, but from what was observed backstage, it did not seem like the 2 of them had any problems with each other. Backstage, the 2 of them hugged each other and seemed to be very chatty. When they were asked for a picture of the 2 of them together, Sammi immediately puckered up to Miriam, and Miriam obliged her very willingly. They posed as though they were kissing each other, and looked hilarious. After the picture was taken, Sammi asked the reporter to let her have a look at the picture, and Miriam joined in the choosing process. They decided that they were not happy with the shot, so they re-posed for another photo, and their laughter permeated the entire backstage. Sammi also specially requested that she take a picture with Tsai Chin, because she admires Tsai Chin’s performances, and at that time, Liza Wang came backstage, and so the 3 of them took a photo together.
Canadian reporters asked Sammi why she chose to do this performance since she has been taking such a long break, and Sammi replied, “I’ve not specially been taking a break, I have been doing movies and advertisements. It’s just that in recent months I decided to take a longer holiday, and as for why I decided to do this show, it’s just that this is a popular show, both in Mainland China as well as overseas, and the audience base is large.” Sammi performed 3 songs at the show, namely, ‘Worth It’, ‘Forever Beauty’ and a duet with Liza Wang called ‘Happiness Every Year’. Incidentally, Sammi’s duet with Liza was the last performance of the evening and after her performance, Eric Tsang came out carrying a bottle of water for Sammi to sip from. Sammi was also given many bunches of flowers such that she had to place them down before she could continue performing.
Although Sammi has not sung in a live concert for some time, it did not appear that she was having any trouble singing. She told reporters that she had been exercising 2 hours daily while she was on her holiday, so she has kept her standards up. Sammi went on to say that upon her return to Hong Kong, she will work on her EP, and then on her upcoming concert in May.
After the show, Sammi went along with Eric Tsang, Richie Jen and Tsai Chin to have a steamboat supper. Sammi sat next to Miriam and the both of them could be heard talking about food and beauty tips continuously.
When Miriam was asked about her relationship with Sammi, she said, “Like I told you before, it’s obvious that there’s nothing between us. It’s just that you guys want to keep writing about it, and I can’t do anything about it!”
Andy Hui was also questioned about Sammi and Miriam’s relationship, as well as what he was doing on Valentine’s Day. He said that he felt there was nothing between Sammi and Miriam, and that he would be having an early reunion dinner with his family on Valentine’s Day, afterwhich he would spend time with his dog Lucky.
