Acclaimed Chinese pop singer Tsai Chin (蔡琴) staged a successful solo concert at Shanghai Grand Stage on New Year’s Eve to wrap up the 80th anniversary of Chinese pop music.
During the night, Tsai Chin covered over 30 classics of the past eight decades, including the famous nostalgic tunes from 1920s Shanghai (大上海).
Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post reports each performance was followed by sustained applause from the audience, who were crammed into the full venue.
The event’s organizer has reportedly invited Tsai Chin to return and give another show at the end of this year. [by stephanieshieh]
