Guy gives low key 40th the thumbs up at party in Mayfair pub

Having just marked her own 50th, Madonna was celebrating another milestone birthday this week - that of husband Guy Ritchie, who turned 40. In contrast to her own lavish do, however, the Material Girl and her husband took a different approach to Wednesday night’s festivities - heading to their Mayfair pub The Punchbowl for a low-key party with their children and a handful of close friends.

Judging by his enthusiastic thumbs-up gesture, the less-extravagant route had gone down a storm with the RocknRolla director, who carried on the party with A-list pals Trudie Styler and David Gest after his wife left at 10pm with 12-year-old Lourdes, her daughter from a previous relationship, Rocco, eight, and tartan-clad adopted toddler David.

Perhaps Madonna was also hoping for an early night as she’s in the middle of her Sticky And Sweet tour and was due on stage in London the following evening.
