Heat on for celebs over Diaries
Former Heat editor Mark Frith has ‘revealed all’ in his memoirs The Celeb Diaries: the Sensational Inside Story of the Celebrity Decade.
Frith is renowned for pushing the sales of the celebrity gossip magazine past half a million sales a week.
In the book, Frith talks of how Heat became the “battleground for a tiff between Elton John and George Michael” after it ran a comment from Sir Elton urging his friend to “get out more.”
Frith wrote in his diary: “This is dynamite. Two huge stars, who everyone assumed were best mates, are having a great big spat through the pages of our magazine.”
Other celebrities which also get a mention are Victoria Beckham, TV reality star Jade Goody, troubled singer Amy Winehouse and US pop princess Britney Spears.
Frith began his journalistic career at Smash Hits where he was editor at the age of 23. He left the pop magazine to become editor of Sky magazine before moving to Heat in 2000.
