JK wins battle to halt Harry book

Harry Potter author JK Rowling has won a US court battle to stop the publication of an unofficial book on the boy wizard.

Judge Robert Patterson ruled in favour of the writer and Warner Brothers Entertainment Inc after they claimed The Harry Potter Lexicon was in breach of copyright.

The District Court in Manhattan said independent US publisher RDR Books “had failed to establish an affirmative defense of fair use” and publication of the book should be halted.

Rowling said that fan Steven Vander Ark’s companion to the best-selling children’s series would cause her irreparable harm as a writer.
