Kings Of Leon end Perry’s chart reign

Rockers Kings Of Leon have topped the singles charts after beating former chart topper Katy Perry.

The band’s new track Sex On Fire knocked Perry’s I Kissed a Girl into second place.

Sir Cliff Richard entered number three with Thank You For a Lifetime. He hoped to had top the charts to ensure a number one single across six consecutive decades.

The Pussycat Dolls were a new entry in fourth place with When I Grow Up and Rihanna’s Disturbia fell to fifth.

In the album charts heavy metal group Metallica went straight in at number one with Death Magnetic, knocking The Verve’s Forth off the top into fourth place.

The number two spot was taken by Glaswegian quartet Glasvegas, with their self-titled album.

Rhianna’s album, Good Girl Gone Bad, climbed from five to three.
