Lennox recovers from spinal surgery
Annie Lennox has undergone spinal surgery after suffering a back spasm during a conference in Mexico.
The singer was attending the international Aids conference, but was forced to return home early following the injury.
Before leaving Mexico, the 53-year-old was treated by a doctor who was attending a chiropractors’ conference that happened to be taking place in the Scottish singer’s hotel.
In her online blog, the star, now resting in her London home, wrote: “I came back to the UK and got wheeled off the plane… Felt a bit like Elizabeth Taylor.
“Got an MRI scan this morning, and am now sitting up in bed with my left foot like a dead fish.”
A spokesman for record company SonyBMG said: “Following an injury received while attending last week’s international Aids conference in Mexico, Annie Lennox underwent spinal surgery to release an impinged nerve.
“The surgery went as planned, and Annie is now recuperating at home. Annie would like to send her thanks and appreciation to all that have sent their well wishes in the past few days.”
