Meyers' fitness reigns on TV show

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is forbidden to put on weight for his role as the famously fat King Henry VIII in hit TV drama The Tudors.

Meyers – hailed as one of Hollywood’s most handsome leading men – has played the legendary monarch since the show began last year.

But bosses insist they have no plans to order the actor to pile on the pounds.

Executive producer Morgan O’Sullivan says: “We still want him to be appealing. We don’t want to destroy his good looks. An exact portrayal of Henry is not a factor that we think is important.”
