Shia LaBeouf’s fame ‘crazy and new’

September 18th, 2008 Posted in World Showbiz News

Actor Shia LaBeouf has admitted he is still “figuring out” his own fame.

Following a near-hysterical response from fans at the premiere of his new movie Eagle Eye, the young actor seemed baffled by the attention he was getting.

“[Fame is] crazy and new, you know I’m figuring it out,” he said.

Since starring in Transformers and Indiana Jones, the 22-year-old’s celebrity status has reached new heights.

Shia admits it is hard to get his head around it: “It’s outrageous. If I said that this was normal I’d be a real a-hole.”

“It’s new and sometimes its exciting, sometimes it’s scary. I’m getting used to it.”

Speaking on the red carpet, his co-star actor Billy Bob Thornton praised Shia for not letting the attention affect him.

He said: “He copes with it very well. He’s not interested in being a celebrity, he wants to be an actor and I really respect that about him.”
