Size zero returns to Fashion week?

Size zero models could be returning to the catwalks of London Fashion Week.

Medicals to ensure models are healthy have been scrapped for being “expensive” and “time-consuming”.

The checks were one of 14 proposals from the Model Health Inquiry, set up by the British Fashion Council (BFC) last year to investigate health problems in the industry.

But BFC chief executive Hilary Riva said: “Many of these models are coming in (to the country) the morning of a show so in order to do this kind of test, which is several hours of tests psychiatric and physiological tests, it is just totally impractical for any international model.

“The issue we need to look at here is whether these girls have got a healthy environment to work in, that is our responsibility. So we’re focusing on health not really focusing on making these girls prove that they’re not sick.”

Meanwhile, under-16 models have been banned for the first time this season.
