Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr have greeted fans at the UK premiere of Tropic Thunder.
The film spoofs Hollywood and centres on a group of big-headed actors who sign up to star in an action film about the Vietnam War.
But the director drops them into a real danger zone, with only their fake weapons for protection.
Protests marred the film’s US release because of scenes which appear to mock the mentally disabled while Downey Jr plays a blacked-up actor.
Downey Jr said of the controversy in America: “If anybody knows what’s funny and can be wild without being ridiculous and offensive, it’s Ben.”
Tropic Thunder is released in the UK on Friday.
