Legendary disco group The Village People have been awarded a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
Ray Simpson, Jeff Olson, David Hodo, Eric Anzalone and original members Alexander Briley and Felipe Rose donned their colourful costumes as they received the 2,369th star in front of enthusiastic fans.
The group did not perform, but the crowd danced along to recordings of the band’s biggest hits YMCA and Macho Man.
Original member Victor Willis, who played the policeman and left the group in 1979, was also in attendance.
He said: “I’m happy they’re getting a star. I guess everyone is surprised when something lasts 30 years.”
The Village People continue to perform to sold-out audiences around the world.
